“At the Galaxy Forefront” Parent-child Positive Communication Workshops

Conducted by parent-child relationship experts, a total of twenty “Parent-child Positive Communication Workshops” will be held online between May 2022 to August 2022. The workshop aims at enriching the knowledge and skills of parents of kindergarten and primary school students when they communicate with their children; providing parents with simple and practical communication toolkits to strengthen the connection between family members and sharpen parents’ skills when coping with family conflicts; helping children to understand different emotions and encouraging them to express their needs and feelings; and encouraging parents to seek help timely when encountering difficulties.

There are two sessions in the workshop:

• Session 1 introduces how parents can apply the “Power of the 6As” to prepare themselves a good emotional state that aids communicating with their children. Besides, respecting children’s needs is an important step in establishing good communication. Through the interactive workshop, we hope parents could learn to understand the needs of themselves and their children, and help children to build a positive sense of self-worth.
   
• Session 2 covers the parent-child communication skills in achieving a win-win situation and the usage of the “At the Galaxy Forefront” Parent-child Communication Toolkit. Tips on handling parent-child problems and information on community support will also be introduced.
